CVE-2008-4904
CVE-2008-4905

Description:
L4teral has discovered some vulnerabilities in Typo, which can be exploited by malicious users to conduct SQL injection attacks, and by malicious people to conduct script insertion attacks.

1) Input passed to the "comment[author]" and "comment[url]" parameters when leaving a comment is not properly sanitised before being stored. This can be exploited to insert arbitrary HTML and script code, which is executed in a user's browser session in context of an affected site when the malicious data is viewed.

2) Input passed to the "search[published_at]" parameter in admin/pages is not properly sanitised before being used in SQL queries. This can be exploited to manipulate SQL queries by injecting arbitrary SQL code.

Successful exploitation of this vulnerability requires valid blog publisher credentials or higher.

NOTE: It was also reported that the same salt value is used to generate all password hashes.

The vulnerabilities are confirmed in version 5.1.3. Other versions may also be affected.

Solution:
Edit the source code to ensure that input is properly sanitised.
