|
Description: C1c4Tr1Z has discovered some vulnerabilities in dotProject, which can be exploited by malicious users to conduct SQL injection attacks, and by malicious people to conduct cross-site scripting attacks.
1) Input passed to the "inactive" parameter in index.php (when "m" is set to "tasks"), "date" in index.php (when "m" is set to "calendar" and "a" to "day_view"), "callback" in index.php (when "m" is set to "public", "a" is set to "calendar", and "dialog" is set to "1"), and "type" in index.php (when "m" is set to "ticketsmith") is not properly sanitised before being returned to the user. This can be exploited to execute arbitrary HTML and script code in a user's browser session in context of an affected site.
Successful exploitation of this vulnerability requires that the target user has valid user credentials.
2) Input passed to the "tab" parameter in index.php (when "m" is set to "projects") is not properly sanitised before being used in SQL queries. This can be exploited to manipulate SQL queries by injecting arbitrary SQL code.
Successful exploitation of this vulnerability allows e.g. retrieval of administrator usernames and password hashes, but requires valid user credentials.
3) Input passed to the "user_id" parameter in index.php (when "m" is set to "admin" and "a" to "viewuser") is not properly sanitised before being used in SQL queries. This can be exploited to manipulate SQL queries by injecting arbitrary SQL code.
Successful exploitation of this vulnerability requires valid administrator credentials.
The vulnerabilities are confirmed in version 2.1.2. Other versions may also be affected.
Solution: Edit the source code to ensure that input is properly sanitised. Grant user access to trusted people only.
Provided and/or discovered by: C1c4Tr1Z
Changelog: 2008-09-04: Added CVE reference.
