Description: Koshi has discovered a vulnerability in Acoustica Beatcraft, which can be exploited by malicious people to compromise a user's system.
The vulnerability is caused due to a boundary error when processing malformed Beatcraft Project files (*.bcproj). This can be exploited to cause a stack-based buffer overflow by e.g. tricking a user into opening a specially crafted Beatcraft Project file.
Successful exploitation allows the execution of arbitrary code.
The vulnerability is confirmed in version 1.02 Build 19. Other versions may also be affected.
Solution: Do not open untrusted Beatcraft Project files.
Provided and/or discovered by: Koshi
Changelog: 2008-09-29: Added CVE reference.
