| CVE reference: | CVE-2008-5236
|
|
Description: Some vulnerabilities have been reported in xine-lib, which potentially can be exploited by malicious people to compromise a user's system.
1) An integer overflow error exists within the "open_ra_file()" function in src/demuxers/demux_realaudio.c. This can be exploited to cause a heap-based buffer overflow via a specially crafted RealAudio file.
2) A boundary error exists within the "parse_block_group()" function in src/demuxers/demux_matroska.c. This can be exploited to cause a heap-based buffer overflow via a specially crafted "Matroska" file.
Successful exploitation of the vulnerabilities may allow execution of arbitrary code.
The vulnerabilities are reported in version 1.1.14 and 1.1.15. Other versions may also be affected.
Solution: Do not open untrusted files or streams with applications using xine-lib.
